06/06/2026 07:55 PM

SUBANG JAYA, June 6 (Bernama) -- The Selangor state government, through Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), continues to strengthen the women's empowerment agenda by organising ‘Jelajah Wanita Berdaya Tahan Selangor 2026’.

Selangor Women and Community Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari said the tour focuses on aspects of economic development, social welfare, and family preparedness in facing current challenges.

She said that the organisation of the tour is also in line with the Selangor Women's Policy 2024-2026 and the Selangor Care Economy Policy 2024-2030 implemented by the state government.

"When conflicts occur in the West Asia, there may be members of the community who are laid off or want to explore new opportunities. This tour brings together various agencies under one roof to make it easier for the people to obtain information," she said to reporters after officiating the tour programme here today.

She said that to support women returning to work and mastering digital skills including artificial intelligence (AI), the tour also featured the Women's Career Carnival and the Career Comeback Workshop in collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) and Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp).

The series of tours will traverse five zones starting from the Petaling zone, before continuing to Hulu Langat, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and ending in Kuala Selangor.

In an effort to strengthen support for single mothers in Selangor, Anfaal said the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) Foundation has allocated RM100,000 this year to provide food basket assistance and RM100 monthly vouchers under the Kita Selangor Programme for a period of six months, starting next month.

She said that for the elderly, a grant of RM50,000 has been allocated to the Selangor Social Welfare Department for the implementation of 10 selected community programmes throughout this year.

Earlier, in her speech, Anfaal said the state government is now actively strengthening the ecosystem of childcare and social protection for carers to reduce the unpaid care burden shouldered by women.

"We want to ensure that women do not have to choose between career and family. When a family has more than one source of income, they are better prepared to face any economic crisis," she also said.
