KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- KL Wellness City (KLWC) and OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing integrated healthcare, wellness, lifestyle, protection and financial service initiatives.
The MoU was signed by KLWC Managing Director Datuk Dr Colin Lee and OCBC Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Tan Chor Sen, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering innovation and cross-sector collaboration within Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem.
A key component of the collaboration is the introduction of OCBC’s Medipreneur Programme, a specially curated financing and insurance protection solution designed for healthcare professionals, including purchasers of Medical Suites at The Nobel Healthcare Park within KLWC.
The partnership will enable doctors who intend to purchase, own or lease medical suites and establish their own clinics within KLWC to benefit from integrated financing, equipment funding and insurance protection solutions offered under OCBC’s Medipreneur Programme.
Lee said the collaboration strengthens KLWC’s ecosystem approach by integrating financial enablement into healthcare development.
“This partnership enhances our ability to support healthcare professionals not only in establishing their practices, but also in sustaining and growing them within a comprehensive ecosystem,” he said.
Under the programme, OCBC Malaysia will provide healthcare professionals with tailored financing and banking solutions, including unsecured business financing of up to RM600,000 with repayment tenures of up to seven years, as well as commercial property financing of up to 150 per cent for companies and 85 per cent for individuals.
Pac Lease Bhd will offer financing solutions for medical equipment, renovation and working capital requirements, including medical equipment financing of up to 100 per cent of equipment cost and working capital financing of up to RM300,000 without collateral requirements and approval within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd will provide insurance coverage solutions for business operations and medical practitioner malpractice protection, including a 10 per cent discount on malpractice insurance premiums.
Healthcare professionals will also benefit from an incorporation package provided by Boss Boleh, which includes complimentary one-to-one consultation sessions and promotional support packages for business set-up.
Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate on joint engagement initiatives, including curated events, knowledge-sharing sessions and networking platforms for medical professionals. OCBC Malaysia will also participate in selected programmes through its support team stationed at the KL Wellness City Gallery, providing product briefings and financial advisory sharing sessions.
Tan said the collaboration reflects OCBC Malaysia’s commitment to supporting healthcare professionals through integrated financial solutions and ecosystem partnerships, and also serves as a platform to support healthcare professionals in building resilient and future-ready practices while contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem.
“At OCBC, we see clearly how the role of doctors is evolving. Many are also business owners who make long-term investment decisions, manage costs and plan for growth while continuing to care for their patients.
“Leveraging our One Group approach, we bring together the combined strengths of OCBC Malaysia, Pac Lease and Great Eastern under our OCBC Medipreneur Programme to deliver integrated financial solutions, from working capital and assets financing to comprehensive insurance, to empower doctors to establish, manage and grow their practices with confidence,” he said.
KLWC, located in Bukit Jalil, is Southeast Asia’s first purpose-built integrated wellness township spanning 26.5 acres.
The development is anchored by KL International Hospital, a planned tertiary private hospital with approximately 1,000 beds, 25 operating theatres, a rooftop helipad and advanced smart hospital features. Adjacent to the hospital is The Nobel Healthcare Park, which comprises Medical Suites, Wellness Suites, Commercial Suites, Business Suites and Retail Suites designed to support healthcare professionals, specialists and wellness-related businesses.
The Medical Suites at The Nobel Healthcare Park are scheduled for vacant possession this July.
