Bernama's Kelantan Bureau Bags Five Awards At Kelantan Media Awards 2025

KOTA BHARU, June 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency’s (Bernama) Kelantan Bureau bagged five awards at the Kelantan Media Awards 2025 ceremony held in conjunction with the State-level National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) celebration here tonight.

The success was achieved through Muhammad Mustaqim Khairuddin, who emerged as the winner in the Best News Photography category which offered a cash prize of RM1,000, with his entry, Saving Cows in the Flood. 

Muhammad Afiq Mohd Asri secured second place in the Best Malay Language Newspaper Special Report category and took home RM700 with his entry: Kelantan-Thailand Border: Internal Threats, Geographical Challenges, and Maritime Power Demands.

Muhammad Afiq, who is also the Bernama Kelantan Bureau Chief, also won second place in the Best Malay Language Newspaper News category and pocketed another RM700, through his article: Stroke Not the End of the World - Azli Rises Again with PERKESO RTW (Return to Work).

His colleague Habsah Ismail clinched third place in the same category and won RM300 with her entry: Prosthetic Eyes: HPUSM Restores Confidence in Patients with Eye Loss.

For the Best TV News category, Ahmad Faris Abdul Halim won third place and RM300 with his presentation of an article titled: Millions of Ringgit Worth of Yaba Pills Hidden in Cow Dung, Six Locals Detained.

The awards reflect the capability of Bernama staff to continue competing healthily in a challenging media industry, while maintaining professional journalistic standards and integrity.

The awards were presented by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud at the event, which was attended by media practitioners from various print, electronic, and digital organisations in the state.

In his speech, Mohd Nassuruddin said journalists are not just deliverers of information, but strategic partners of the government and society in building mutual understanding and common well-being.

He added that journalists are also considered witnesses to history, documenting significant events of the state and nation for the reference of future generations.
