GEORGE TOWN, June 15 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Massila Kamalrudin has earned international recognition after receiving the World Women Empowerment Impact Award 2026 at the World Women Economic and Business Summit (WWEBS) here today.
UTeM said in a statement that Massila received the trophy and certificate of excellence presented by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in recognition of her leadershp, transformative contributions and commitment to empowering women and advancing inclusive development in the higher education sector.
It added that Massila’s leadership has also contributed to strengthening institutional excellence, expanding industry-academic collaboration and opening up more opportunities for women to grow as leaders, creators and agents of change.
UTeM said the award also recognised Massila’s role in championing higher education as a catalyst for community empowerment, as well as her continued contributions to women’s development at the ASEAN and international levels.
Under her leadership, the university continues to strengthen its position in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), in addition to recording the highest increase in student intake in its history, and producing highly skilled graduates to meet the needs of the industry.
