KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 (Bernama) -- Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, today granted an audience to the leadership of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to discuss the organisation of the Royal Intellectual Forum, which will adopt a new approach this year.
According to a post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page, the two-hour meeting at Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Bahru focused on the planning and content of the academic programmes to be organised through collaboration between UTM and the Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation (YRZSNJ).
UTM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim told the Royal Press Office (RPO) that the main agenda of the discussion centred on the organisation of the Royal Intellectual Forum, which will focus on the involvement of youth and non-Muslim communities.
He said the forum’s content will place particular emphasis on the wholeness of Islam and its role in fostering social harmony.
“This approach reflects Her Majesty’s concern, as UTM Chancellor, for the future and character development of the younger generation,” he said.
Also in attendance were YRZSNJ chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abd Rahim and director of the Corporate Communications Centre, UTM Office of Strategy and Global Eminence, Assoc Prof Dr Farhana Diana Deris.
