95 MADANI Community Leaders Receive Appointment Letters

20/06/2026 07:47 PM

ALOR SETAR, June 20 (Bernama) -- A total of 95 MADANI Community leaders from Kedah and Perlis have been presented with appointment letters to strengthen communication between the government and the people and ensure accurate information is delivered at the grassroots level.

Political Secretary to the Communications Minister Abdullah Izhar Mohamed Yusof said 68 MADANI Community leaders were appointed from Kedah, while 27 were from Perlis.

He said the move reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to improving communication at the community level and ensuring that the people’s voices are continuously heard and taken into account in development planning.

“Communication is not simply about conveying information, but about making sure it is understood, believed, and ultimately translated into actions that benefit the people.

“MADANI Community leaders act as the eyes, ears and voice connecting the government and the people,” he said, adding that they help channel community issues, explain new policies and aid, and address misinformation and public confusion.

Abdullah Izhar said this at the Jiwa MADANI Programme and the ceremony for the presentation of appointment letters to MADANI Community leaders from Kedah and Perlis here today.

He said the government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has always prioritised effective communication to ensure that all policies and initiatives are clearly understood and fully benefited from by the public.

According to him, MADANI Community leaders help ensure that targeted assistance, such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), and Budi MADANI support, is delivered to eligible groups, thereby reducing the risk of recipients being left behind.

Meanwhile, he said MADANI Community leaders should also serve as digital literacy agents to address the challenges of the technological age, marked by rising online scams, misinformation, cyberbullying, and the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI).

“He said fake videos or (those using) deepfake (technology) can now be produced so easily that they are almost indistinguishable from real recordings. That is why I call on the public to always verify before sharing,” he added.
