KLUANG, June 23 (Bernama) -- A long-standing land title issue affecting some Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) settlers in Johor is now almost fully resolved after the state government settled 99.99 per cent of the applications.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said 27,639 out of 27,642 land title applications had been resolved to date.
He said the milestone was achieved following the presentation of land titles to 210 settlers from Kluang, Kota Tinggi and Mersing at the Johor FELDA Settlers Land Title Presentation Ceremony today.
According to him, the achievement reflects the state government's continued commitment to resolving land ownership issues that have long been a concern among FELDA communities, while ensuring the welfare of residents in the land schemes continues to be safeguarded.
"We will continue to treat FELDA settlements in the state as a priority for the Johor government. Whatever issues arise there will continue to receive attention and we will try to resolve them.
"The state government's decision to resolve the land title ownership issue is also part of Johor's rural development agenda," he said in his speech at the ceremony.
Also present was Johor Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip.
At the ceremony, 210 settlers from Kluang, Kota Tinggi and Mersing received land titles for their plantations and homes.
