24/06/2026 04:49 PM

SHAH ALAM, June 24 (Bernama) -- The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced the Women Summit & Women #QuranHour 2026 programme at Dahlia Auditorium, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here today.

On arrival at 9.30am, Her Royal Highness was received by Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff, and Asia Pacific Women’s Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine (ApWCQP) president Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan.

The programme, jointly organised by WUIF and ApWCQP, brought together about 400 women from Selangor and several countries, including Singapore and Indonesia, to strengthen thinking, shape character and enhance spiritual resilience based on the Quran.

With the theme “Women of Grit”, the programme was inspired by the resilience of Palestinian women, particularly in Gaza, who continue to uphold their faith, family institutions and children’s education despite war, loss of loved ones, destruction of homes and various life challenges.

Also present were WUIF chief research officer Fazrul Ismail, 2014 International Quran Recitation Champion Tirmizi Ali, and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) senior lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry Associate Prof Dr Nora Mat Zin.

Meanwhile, Women Summit & Women #QuranHour 2026 director Gharizah Hashim said the programme helps women build strength guided by divine revelation in facing increasingly complex life challenges.

“Women of Grit is not only about strength in overcoming hardship, but also about how women build calmness of the soul, make wise decisions and move forward with guidance from the Quran.

“We want to produce women who are able to rise from trials, become a source of strength for their families and continue contributing to society and the ummah,” she told the media at the programme.

Gharizah said efforts to develop women’s mindset and character based on the Quran must be strengthened to produce a generation of women with clear life purpose, compassion and resilience.

Meanwhile, Marhaini said the Women Summit and Women #QuranHour 2026 agenda will be expanded to state level through the Rumah Ngaji network, a free Quran learning class supported by local community sponsorship nationwide.

“The presence of Rumah Ngaji representatives from various states at this programme marks the beginning of a more structured movement to empower women through reading, understanding and practising the Quran. Insya-Allah, the programme will be continued at state level to benefit more women nationwide,” she said.
