Agro MADANI Sales Programme In Perak Records RM3.76 Mln Sales Since Jan

GOPENG, June 27 (Bernama) -- The Agro MADANI Sales Programme across Perak recorded total sales of RM3.76 million in the first five months of this year.

State Rural Development, Plantations, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun said the programme, organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), was held at 169 locations statewide during that period.

"By the end of this year, Perak FAMA aims to implement 421 Agro MADANI Sales Programmes across the state to extend the benefits of this initiative to more consumers and entrepreneurs.

"The state government believes that such initiatives not only help alleviate the people's cost of living but also serve as an important platform to strengthen the agricultural marketing chain, increase entrepreneurs' income and boost rural economic development," he said.

He told reporters this at a press conference after launching the three-day Mega Agro MADANI Sales Programme at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) Gopeng here today. The programme began yesterday.

Mohd Zolkafly said the current Mega Agro MADANI Sales Programme is expected to generate RM750,000 in sales and provide RM225,000 in savings to about 50,000 visitors during the event.

He said the programme features 132 exhibition and sales lots involving 89 entrepreneurs, about 30 per cent of whom are new.

"This participation reflects FAMA's commitment to opening up more marketing opportunities for local entrepreneurs and expanding market access for the state's agro-food products.

"Among the main attractions is the offering of 5,000 units of the Kombo MADANI at a promotional price of RM10 compared to the original price of RM20, thereby providing savings of up to 50 per cent to consumers," he said.

Mohd Zolkafly added that visitors can also purchase fresh agricultural produce, including 20 metric tonnes of durian, over 15 metric tonnes of local fruits, and 450 durian platter sets priced at RM30.

The programme is further enlivened by the participation of 310 stock-keeping units (SKUs) of Agro-based Food Industry (IMAT) products, more than 250 types of dishes at Empayar Makanan, and 140 types of saplings and floriculture products.

Various side activities are also provided, such as the RAHMAH Sales, free haircuts, free motorcycle engine oil changes, cultural performances and entertainment, making the programme an ideal one-stop destination for the whole family.
