GOLD FUTURES END HIGHER

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher today as markets kept an eye out for United States economic data due later in the day for further clues on the US monetary policy. 

At the close, the spot month June 2024 contract rose to US$2,321.1 per troy ounce from US$2,310.7 per troy ounce yesterday, while July 2024 increased to US$2,327.9 per troy ounce from US$2,317.5 per troy ounce previously. 

August 2024, September 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 all settled higher at US$2,343.1 per troy ounce compared with US$2,332.0 per troy ounce yesterday.

Volume went up to 18 lots from eight lots on Tuesday while open interest improved to 33 contracts from 22 contracts previously.

The price of physical gold stood at US$2,316.50 per troy ounce, according to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on June 11.
