GOLD FUTURES END LOWER

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today, tracking the COMEX gold futures.

At the close, spot month June 2024 contract fell to US$2,316.4 per troy ounce from US$2,322.4 per troy ounce last Friday, while July 2024 slid to US$2,323.2 per troy ounce from US$2,329.2 per troy ounce previously. 

August 2024, September 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 all settled lower at US$2,338.9 per troy ounce compared with US$2,344.8 per troy ounce on Friday last week.

Volume tripled to 15 lots from five lots at Friday’s close, while open interest increased to 34 contracts from 25 contracts previously.

The price of physical gold stood at US$2,319.90 per troy ounce, according to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on June 17.

The market was closed yesterday for the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
