GOLD FUTURES CLOSE LOWER AMID PROFIT-TAKING

KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 (Bernama) -- The gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower today, driven by profit-taking activities.

At the close, the spot month June 2024 contract reduced to US$2,312.40 per troy ounce from US$2,319.10 per troy ounce yesterday, while July 2024 dropped to US$2,320.00 per troy ounce from US$2,326.30 per troy ounce previously. 

August 2024, September 2024, October 2024 and December 2024 all eased to US$2,336.00 per troy ounce compared with US$2,342.30 per troy ounce yesterday.

Volume slid to 20 lots from 29 lots on Wednesday, while open interest lessened to 39 contracts from 49 contracts.

The price of physical gold stood at US$2,299.65 per troy ounce, according to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on June 26.
