Global Gold Prices Soar To New High, Boosting Bursa Malaysia's Gold Futures

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed strongly, closely tracking the global gold market’s rally as prices soared to a new all-time high of US$2,955 an ounce. 

The rally follows indications from United States President Donald Trump, who suggested that a trade deal with China could be within reach.

At home, the spot-month February 2025 contract rose to US$2,954.30 per troy ounce from US$2,946.50 on Wednesday, while the March 2025 contract increased to US$2,961.20 from US$2,953.60 per troy ounce.  

April, May and June 2025 contracts rose to US$2,971.40 per troy ounce from Wednesday’s US$2,963.80. 

Trading volume, however, fell to 54 lots from 86 lots yesterday, while open interest narrowed to 109 contracts from 157.  

According to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Feb 19, physical gold was priced at US$2,936.50 per troy ounce.
