Tenaga Nasional, Public Bank, Petronas Chemicals Drag FBM KLCI Lower At Mid-Afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia stayed in the red at mid-afternoon, dragged down by selling in selected counters, led by Tenaga Nasional, Public Bank and Petronas Chemicals.

Tenaga Nasional lost 48 sen to RM13.46, Public Bank was down five sen to RM4.26 and Petronas Chemicals erased 11 sen to RM3.58.

At 3.01 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shaved 11.35 points to 1,528.97 compared to yesterday’s close of 1,540.32.

The benchmark index opened 1.66 points lower at 1,538.66.

Across the broader market, decliners beat gainers 604 to 288, while 421 counters were unchanged, 1,213 untraded and 44 suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.21 billion shares worth RM1.3 billion.

Among other heavyweights, Maybank lost seven sen to RM9.56, CIMB gained four sen to RM6.74, IHH Healthcare was flat at RM6.65, CelcomDigi added one sen to RM3.84.

Among the most actively traded stocks, Focus Dynamics and Tanco were flat at one sen and 91.5 sen respectively, NexG and Velesto gained one sen each to 52.5 sen and 19 sen, while Zetrix lost half-a-sen to 91 sen.

Across the broader market, the FBM Emas Index dropped 73.15 points to 11,478.02, the FBMT 100 Index slipped 76.68 points to 11,237.88 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 81.02 points to 11,499.94.

The FBM 70 Index eased 83.43 points to 16,575.43.81 while the FBM ACE Index shed 16.35 points to 4,626.16.

By sector, the Financial Services Index fell 67.24 points to 17,438.34, the Plantation Index lost 51.25 points to 7,418.71 and the Industrial Products and Services Index was 1.12 points lower at 157.04. The Energy Index, however, rose 1.27 points to 739.95.
