KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia stayed higher at mid-afternoon, supported by continued buying in selected artificial intelligence (AI)-related and financial counters.
At 3.05 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 4.82 points to 1,722.09 from Monday’s close of 1,717.27.
The benchmark index opened 4.13 points higher at 1,721.40.
Market breadth was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 630 to 491, while 492 counters were unchanged, 1,105 untraded and 86 suspended.
Turnover totalled 2.58 billion units valued at RM1.83 billion.
Among heavyweights, Maybank rose eight sen to RM11.18, Public Bank added one sen to RM4.73, CIMB improved seven sen to RM7.72, and IHH Healthcare added two sen to RM8.79, while Tenaga Nasional was flat at RM14.58.
On the most active list, Lustre Industries eased by half a sen to 3.5 sen, Zetrix AI and VS Industry dropped one sen each to 86 sen and 21.5 sen, respectively. UEM Sunrise rose seven sen to 66 sen, and MRCB bagged two sen to 33.5 sen.
Top gainers included Nestle, which firmed 98 sen to RM100.10, Fraser and Neave advanced 54 sen to RM31.22, KESM strengthening 50 sen to RM4.23, UMS Integration improving 23 sen to RM6.77, and Dutch Lady firming 20 sen to RM32.70.
Top losers included Malaysian Pacific Industries, which shaved 72 sen to RM37.16, while Petronas Dagangan lost 46 sen to RM19.86, Allianz decreased 36 sen to RM20.80, and UWC lost 12 sen to RM5.15.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index increased 34.68 points to 12,750.81, the FBM Top 100 Index gained 37.62 points to 12,587.01, the FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 32.60 points to 12,692.69, the FBM Mid 70 Index went up 64.89 points to 18,233.96, but the FBM ACE Index slipped 19.98 points to 4,638.04.
By sector, the Financial Services Index firmed 67.02 points to 20,043.93, while the Industrial Products and Services Index went up 0.81 points to 195.72, the Energy Index shaved 2.29 points to 829.32, and the Plantation Index reduced 41.62 points to 8,792.95.
