Bursa Malaysia Ends Morning Session Higher On Bargain Hunting

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session higher on selected bargain hunting.

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) perked up 5.75 points to 1,681.25 from Monday’s close of 1,675.5.

The FBM KLCI, which opened 0.55 of a point higher at 1,676.05, moved between 1,673.64 and 1,682.46 throughout the session.

However, market breadth remained negative, with losers surpassing gainers 469 to 279, while 401 counters were unchanged, 1,541 untraded and 14 suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.96 billion shares worth RM1.10 billion. 

Regionally, Singapore’s Straits Times Index fell 1.04 per cent to 4,971.03, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dropped 1.11 per cent to 24,292.95, South Korea’s benchmark Kospi was down 5.66 per cent to 7,638.67, and Japan’s Nikkei dipped 2.19 per cent to 63,987.22. 

Among heavyweights, Maybank added six sen to RM10.68, Public Bank rose seven sen to RM4.84, Tenaga Nasional gained eight sen to RM14.22, CIMB improved three sen to RM7.40, and IHH Healthcare was one sen to RM8.69. 

Among the active stocks, Hong Seng Consolidated was flat at 1.5 sen, Zetrix AI was two sen better at 84.5 sen, Tanco fell 30 sen to 50 sen, Capital A reduced two sen to 39.5 sen, TFP was flat at 8.5 sen, and GIIB added two sen to 48 sen.  

As for the top gainers, Kuala Lumpur Kepong added 28 sen to RM20.40, LPI Capital climbed 16 sen to RM15.26, TMK Chemical was up 14 sen to RM2.21, and United Plantations was 10 sen higher at RM32.28.

Among the top losers, Nestle was 68 sen lower at RM93.76, KESM Industries erased 31 sen to RM3.74, Ajinomoto was 18 sen easier at RM15.30, and Vitrox lost 13 sen to RM7.03.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index added 17.43 points to 12,469.39, and the FBM Top 100 Index rose 23.27 points to 12,315.26, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index edged down 9.35 points to 12,426.03.

The FBM Mid 70 Index gave up 46.79 points to 17,954.97, and the FBM ACE Index was down 64.03 points to 4,663.65.

By sector, the Financial Services Index removed 123.21 points to 19,620.10, while the Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.16 of a point to 196.52, the Energy Index slid 9.89 points to 777.74, and the Plantation Index rose 50.67 points to 8,793.11.
