KUANTAN,  Nov  18 (Bernama) -- Anih Berhad, which is the concessionaire for the East Coast Expressway(LPT 1) and Kuala Lumpuk-Karak Expressway Anih Berhad is stepping up patrol along both expressways during the monsoon season as a precautionary measure against any untoward incidence.

Works Minister Baru Bian said the company had also identified areas along the expressways with risk of flooding .

“With frequent patrols, they will be able to provide real time information to the operation centres and consumers,” he told reporters after a working visit to the office of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and LPT1 at the Kuantan Toll Plaza here today.

Also present were Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir, LLM deputy director-general (development)  Datuk Mohd Shuhaimi Hassan and Anih Berhad executive director Datuk Nik Fauzi Nik Hussein.

Baru said apart from information by the patrol teams, the expressways were also monitored through closed-circuit television cameras that had been installed at several strategic locations.

He said LLM had a traffic control centre which monitored traffic flow on its expressways.

“If floods occur, the highway concessionaires have their own crisis teams to handle the situation with assistance from the relevant departments and agencies,” he added.
