KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is sponsoring 130 students with outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results in 2018 this year with scholarships from Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN).
TNB president and chief executive officer Amir Hamzah Azizan said besides being good in studies, all scholarship recipients of various backgrounds are also active in co-curricular activities.
“Academic achievement and leadership are important factors in the selection of YTN scholarship recipients. The selected students have the opportunity to be TNB employees upon finishing their courses and it is hoped they will lead TNB in future,” he said in a statement today.
He said TNB hoped to form a high quality generation with academic excellence and leadership talent through the scholarships.
YTN is also providing a development programme series via Scholar Development Journey to assist students under its sponsorship achieve academic excellence as well as competency with high value and principles, he said.
According to the statement, YTN which was introduced in 1993, had spent almost RM1 billion on more than 12,000 students nationwide.
