KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- Police have detained an elderly local man allegedly involved in the murder of an Indonesian man in a parking area of Apartment Desa Mentari, Sungai Way in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the 61-year-old man from Sabah was arrested in Rawang at 11.55am.
An initial investigation by the police found that the murder was related to unpaid house renovation works.
“Acting on information received, a police team from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters (IPD) Crime Investigation Department (Serious Crime) (D9) raided a restaurant in Rawang this morning.
“Consequently, we managed to arrest the suspect who lived at the scene of the murder case,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Zani said police also seized a motorcycle and a 20-centimetre knife believed was used in the murder.
“During the initial interrogation, the suspect confessed of his involvement in the incident. It was because the victim allegedly refused to pay the wages from renovation works done by the suspect,” said Mohd Zani.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Yesterday, an Indonesian man known as Idris, 45, reportedly died after being stabbed using a sharp object after having a morning tea with his friends at 11.30am.
