KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- With the boom in artificial intelligence and big data, local supercomputer builder and assembler, Twistcode Technologies Sdn Bhd, is aiming for revenue of RM100 million by year-end.

Founder and chief executive officer Nurazam Malim Sidik Malim said the contribution would come from its software, hardware, as well as services offered to clients.

“Last year, we supplied RM30 million supercomputers to several multinational corporations, and are now expanding our portfolio into banking, manufacturing, insurance as well as healthcare,” he told Bernama,

He said with an increase in demand for digitisation, the healthcare and insurance sectors had a lot to computerise, with most daily operations being conducted the traditional way now.

“We are engaging with them to facilitate the transition into automation, as well as provide services with artificial intelligence and an ability to conduct multiple procedures simultaneously,” he added.

A supercomputer is one with a high performance level, capable of undertaking millions of instructions per second, compared to a general purpose computer.

Twistcode was recently ranked 88th on the High Performance Conjugate Gradient, a list intended as a complement to the High Performance LINPACK benchmark, currently used to rank the TOP500 computing systems.

The company was also the only entity from Southeast Asia to make the list, and Nurazam said that being on it, has put Malaysia’s name on the map for supercomputing.

“So far, we are the only company in Malaysia that has its own system and infrastructure of supercomputers. We are planning to open another data centre in the heart of Kuala Lumpur,” Nurazam said.

As for future plans, he said the company aims to establish two more data centres in the Philippines and Indonesia by 2020 as part of an expansion plan.

Twistcode is a recipient of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation’s business start-up fund. It has since collaborated with various local universities on programmes and is currently developing an algorithm to analyse social media posts and filter out fake news.
