JOHOR BAHRU, July 10 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today received the Order of Sikatuna which carries the title of ‘Datu’ from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in Manila.
In a statement posted on the Sultan's Facebook page, the award was given in conjunction with his visit on Duterte's personal invitation.
At the ceremony at the Malacanang Palace, the Sultan of Johor also consented to award the Dato 'Sri Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor (SMIJ) award to Duterte.
Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim had arrived at the palace at 5pm, before signing the visitor's book.
His Highness was then greeted by Duterte and photographed together before holding a closed door meeting for almost an hour.
Sultan Ibrahim and Duterte also exchanged souvenirs.
Duterte also presented His Highness a portrait of the Sultan of Johor.
