SEPANG, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2020 logo to be launched by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tomorrow will emphasise on environment, culture and the arts.
"After the launch, we will move to Bunga Raya Complex to view the VMY 2020 logo that will be the livery on four aircrafts of MAS, AirAsia, Malindo and Firefly respectively," Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi told reporters today.
He was at Kuala Lumpur International Airport here to observe the final preparations for the launch.
He said the ministry was also hoping to get the cooperation of 34 international airlines to carry the logo as their livery.
According to him, the ministry would focus on three flight categories following the launch, that is short-haul, medium-haul and long-haul.
"Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand are short-haul, China, India, Japan and South Korea are medium-haul while Europe and West Asia are long-haul," he said.
He said such countries were among those that often visit Malaysia and the launch of the VMY logo could potentially draw more arrivals to the country.
Ketapi said the ministry would also work with Sharp, which possesses sentimental value, having established itself in Malaysia since 1974.
The Japanese brand would promote Malaysia and the VMY 2020 logo via television screens at 126,000 premises worldwide, he said.
