DOHA, Jan 29  - Qatar will host the matches of the last two rounds of Group A, Group B, and Group E of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Cup, from February 18 to 21, Qatar news agency (QNA) reported.

Group A includes the Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand. Group B includes China, Taipei, Japan, Malaysia and China. Group E consists of Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

The FIBA Asia selected Doha to host these groups came after Qatar's success in hosting Group E matches in the previous round of qualifiers with the highest degree of caution due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The location of Group A games in the upcoming February window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers was confirmed to be changed to Doha, Qatar by the FIBA Regional Office Asia on Thursday, FIBA Asia said in a statement.

Philippines was previously announced as hosts for Group A. Because of the extension of the travel ban imposed by the Filipino authorities, the location of Group A is now moved to Doha, Qatar.

The third and last window will also be organised as protected environment tournaments in order to ensure health and safety of all participants.
