KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (Bernama) — UEM Edgenta Bhd will focus on integrating facilities management with technology through Internet of Things (IoT) and real-time analytics, while actively positioning environmental, social and governance (ESG) solutions in its target growth markets.

Independent non-executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalid said the global expansion strategy was on the back of transitioning to an endemic phase as the global economic recovery gathers pace in 2022.

“The group’s Edgenta of the Future 2025 (EoTF2025) strategy promises a greater focus on our solutions base and continued expansion into international markets in our pursuit to transform ourselves to becoming a leading technology-based solutions company by 2025,” he said in the company’s 2021 annual report.

He explained that an increased emphasis on the importance of ESG in the strategies would bolster the group’s fundamentals and lead towards a path of sustainable growth.

“We will be commercialising more technology solutions such as software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service with our array of artificial intelligence solutions as a differentiator and disruptor,” he said.

In healthcare support, he said the group have implemented Building Energy Management System IoT to track asset movement and utilisation, in addition to leveraging on mechanisation and robotics to increase productivity in service delivery.

On infrastructure services, Azmil said the group would be actively pursuing opportunities in Sabah and Sarawak as part of Pan Malaysia expansion strategy, in addition to exploring opportunities in neighbouring countries, including Indonesia’s East Kalimantan capital city development.

“We are building a recycled asphalt premix plant with the successful trial of the recycled pavement product developed inhouse,” he said.

Hence, he said reducing waste and its consequent use natural resources, while lowering emissions would enable UEM Edgenta to utilise sustainable products in its road pavement projects.

“The group is well placed to deliver high-quality, sustainable growth to all stakeholders in our ecosystem through our focus on transforming technology base towards the needs of the industry, backed by the commitment of our talented colleagues and the financial strength of our business,” he said.

Meanwhile, its managing director and chief executive officer Syahrunizam Samsudin said the group would remain agile and resilient in the medium term as it pursues growth strategy with a focus on new products and solutions, deepening existing footprints and expanding into new geographies such as East Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

“Notwithstanding this, I believe our opportunities are inextricably linked to the needs of the world and this is what will drive our future direction,” he added.

The group's net profit surged three-fold to RM43.8 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2021 compared with RM14.4 million in the previous year, enabling the company to resume paying a single-tier interim dividend of three sen per ordinary share.
