Budget 2025: Pahang Targets RM1.194 Bln In Revenue Collection

KUANTAN, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Pahang has set a target for state government revenue collection to reach RM1.194 billion next year, marking a five per cent increase compared to last year’s budget, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said.

He said out of the total, RM1.182 billion has been allocated for operating expenditure, which includes emoluments, services and supplies, grants and fixed payments as well as other expenditures and assets.

Wan Rosdy, when presenting Pahang’s budget for 2025 at the state assembly sitting, themed  ‘Prestasi Dipertingkat, Kemakmuran Dipertahan’ (Enhanced Performance, Sustained Prosperity) said the RM1.182 billion allocation reflects an increase of RM57 million or 5.05 per cent compared to last year, resulting in a surplus of RM12 million.

“Meanwhile, for development expenditure, an allocation of RM399.64 million has been set aside. As a government focused on the welfare of the people, this budget is presented with a strong commitment to ensure that every aspect of the state’s prosperity can be enjoyed by all communities, regardless of race or religion.

“This budget is not merely a spending plan but a manifestation of the people's aspirations for more sustainable and inclusive development,” he said.

Wan Rosdy said the budget emphasises food security as the state government remains committed to enhancing the contribution and output of the agricultural sector with an allocation of RM36.78 million, RM24.41 million for livestock and RM500,000 for the State Fisheries Department.

To further boost the agriculture and agro-based industries, the state government will organise the Mini MAHA (Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism) Programme in Pahang with an allocation of RM2 million, he added.

On flood mitigation, Wan Rosdy said RM19.89 million has been allocated for programmes, initiatives,and related projects, including flood mitigation plans, coastal erosion control projects, river estuary rehabilitation and urban drainage systems.

In the education sector, Wan Rosdy said initiatives include three Orang Asli development programmes, namely the ‘Baca Cepat Kawanku’ (BCK), the Orang Asli Student Education Programme (PEDULI) and the ‘Pembangunan Tamadun Masyarakat Orang Asli (PETAMA), with a total allocation of RM2.4 million.

“Additionally, to encourage more Pahang children to attend tahfiz kindergartens, the state government has agreed to allocate RM2.52 million to subsidise education fees for B40 students,” he said. 

He also announced an allocation of RM3 million to extend satellite broadband subscriptions in areas with poor internet access through the PRISMA 4.0 programme, enabling rural communities to benefit from internet connectivity for learning and digital skills.

To tackle unemployment, Wan Rosdy said RM12.5 million has been allocated under the budget for the ‘Program Jaminan Kerjaya’, alongside RM4.5 million for the Pahang Skills Development Centre to upgrade its Centre of Excellence facilities for training and digitalisation efforts.

For Orang Asli community development, initiatives include housing repair projects and water supply projects for Orang Asli villages, with a total allocation of RM2.03 million.

Wan Rosdy said RM800,000 has been allocated to upgrade and maintain sports facilities under the Pahang Sports Council, RM3 million for constructing the Benta Sports Complex, and RM1.65 million for initiatives and programmes such as the National Youth Day and National Sports Day celebrations.

Next year, the state government will continue existing assistance programmes, including the Pahang Primary and Secondary School Scholarship with an allocation of RM23.9 million and RM50.54 million for the ‘Makmur Pahang’ initiative, previously known as ‘Bantuan Prihatin Pahang’ and ‘Program Pahang Makmur’
