KOTA BHARU, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- The restoration of the collapsed Sungai Kelantan riverbank near a condominium and hotel on Jalan Post Office Lama here will be expedited to prevent it from spreading to other areas, said Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.
He said a comprehensive soil study must also be conducted to detect any ground movement in other locations.
"The state government regards this incident as a disaster that requires urgent action, and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has issued a report on this matter for reference and further action, including technical advice.
"Despite any constraints, the state government will strive to ensure that measures are promptly taken to prevent any untoward incidents," he told Bernama today.
On Monday, Bernama reported that a collapse spanning over 50 metres occurred along the riverbank, causing a pedestrian and recreational walkway to cave in.
