GUA MUSANG, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- The arrangement of 10 marble stones, each inscribed with verses from the Quran and zikr phrases, at Persimpangan Bendahara here is a new attraction in Gua Musang.
Gua Musang District Officer Nik Raisnan Daud said the 100-metric-ton stones have not only enhanced the district’s image but also served to promote high-quality natural marble.
He explained that, as the gateway to Kelantan, the Gua Musang District Office (MDGM) is working to enliven Gua Musang and create a unique landmark that will be memorable for visitors and passers-by.
“Many people are unaware that the zikr phrases and short Qur'anic verses inscribed on these marble stones were done ‘freehand’ by an artist from Golok, Thailand.
“This is one of the unique aspects of this landmark, in addition to the materials used and the way the stones are arranged,” he told reporters recently.
Nik Raisnan said the marble stones are from Kampung Star, here and the project was carried out by MDGM on a joint venture with a marble stone manufacturing company and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The project started in May this year and was completed last September, he added.
