Flood Situation Fully Recovers In Perak, Improves In Johor, Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 2 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Perak has fully recovered after the last temporary relief centre was closed this afternoon, while the number of victims in Johor and Kelantan continued to decline tonight.

In PERAK, the flood in Kampung Chinggong, Muallim district, has completely receded.

The remaining 307 victims from 59 families, who had been sheltering at the Dewan Kampung Asli Chinggong relief centre since Dec 31, were allowed to return home. 

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat confirmed that the relief centre was officially closed this afternoon.

In JOHOR, the number of evacuees dropped to 27 as of 8 pm tonight, compared to 69 this morning, following the closure of the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gembut at 11 am.

According to State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, only one relief centre remains operational - the Kampung Perpat community centre in Kota Tinggi.

In KELANTAN, the number of victims sheltering at the SK Gual Tok Deh relief centre in Rantau Panjang slightly decreased to 36 people tonight, down from 38 this morning.

Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir portal reported that Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang remains at the warning level of 8 metres as of 7.45 pm.
