Desa Rejang PA: One Lift Operational, Two Others In Replacement Process - Zaliha

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- One of the three elevators which were damaged at block D of Desa Rejang Public Housing (PA) D has been repaired and is now back in operation for residents to use, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

She said the lift was repaired by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), while the other two lifts nits were still in the process of being replaced.

"I will monitor the replacement process and ensure that the work is accelerated. I have also instructed DBKL to find a long-term solution regarding the elevator issues at the PA and the People's Housing Project (PPR).

“I will also review the role of the Joint Management Body (JMB) or the Management Corporation (MC) in this issue, ” she said in a Facebook post today.

Last Dec 31, DBKL assured residents of PA Desa Rejang that it was taking the elevator issues seriously and was acting promptly to restore the facility, especially in Block D.

PA Desa Rejang has 38 elevator units, 18 of which are being replaced. Of the remaining 20 elevators, only 14 are currently operational.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was at PA Desa Rejang today after visiting Lestari Niaga at Pusat Penjari Wirawati and Section 10, Wangsa Maju, here.

Meanwhile, Zaliha who accompanied Anwar during the visit to the Lestari Niaga sites, said the Lestari Niaga programme was mooted by the prime minister to ensure facilities for petty traders and hawkers are upgraded.

 "This is to enable the traders and hawkers to do business in a more conducive manner," she said.
