SIBU, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The National Information Distribution Centre (NADI) is a vital complement to Sarawak's efforts to provide internet access, particularly for rural communities.
Sarawak's Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said the initiative, spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, empowers communities through programmes designed to bridge digital, knowledge, and socio-economic gaps.
NADI provides programmes in entrepreneurship, lifelong e-learning, personal well-being, and digital literacy, while also serving as a platform for accessing the latest government initiatives.
“NADI’s facilities aim to deliver ICT training to the local community, focusing on school students, particularly those from the B40 group.
“At NADI Teku, for instance, 60 percent of registered users are students, while the remaining are from the local community,” he said during a press conference after officiating the centre today.
Julaihi highlighted that 23 new NADI centres have been established in Sarawak, adding to the 133 already in operation.
NADI Teku, which opened on Oct 16 last year, now boasts 858 registered members.
To date, the centre has supported 10 active local entrepreneurs to market their products and services online.
Julaihi also visited the newly opened NADI Pelawan and NADI Salim in Sibu, which have been operational since October last year.
