KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) and Türkiye’s Anadolu Ajansı (AA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance and renew cooperation in news exchange, news products, and media-related activities.
The agreement, signed by BERNAMA’s Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and AA President and Chief Executive Officer Serdar Karagoz, aims to strengthen the ties between the two news agencies in the field of information and communication.
The exchange of documents between the two agencies’ top echelons took place in Putrajaya in the presence of Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on Tuesday, in conjunction with Erdoğan’s official visit to Malaysia.
Under the MoU, both news agencies can exchange up to 150 news articles, 30 photos, and 30 videos per month, allowing the audiences to gain a better perspective on Malaysia, Türkiye, and international developments.
The MoU includes provisions for the protection of intellectual property rights and ensures that all exchanged content retains its original meaning and integrity.
BERNAMA and AA will also provide mutual assistance to each other’s correspondents operating in their respective countries, including access to information, technical support, and favourable conditions for reporting.
Both agencies will also cooperate closely in providing press support for high-level delegations and official visits, as well as significant events held in Malaysia and Türkiye.
Recognising the evolving media landscape, BERNAMA and AA have also agreed to explore further opportunities for collaboration, including joint productions, collaborative research, and consultancy services in media-related activities.
The MoU reinforces the media collaboration partnership between BERNAMA and AA, first established in 2015.
