KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- All 325 entrepreneurship and development programmes for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), involving an allocation of RM33.8 billion under Budget 2024, have been successfully reported, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said this proved the effectiveness of the Secretariat Meeting of the National Entrepreneurs and MSME Development Council (SEK-MPUPK), which wanted all the achievements reported under the SME Integrated Plan of Action (SMEIPA).
Ahmad Zahid said the SMEIPA is a key mechanism in coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of MSME programmes across various ministries and agencies.
"In addition, the SMEIPA reporting for 2024 also achieved full reporting from all 13 state governments regarding initiatives related to MSME development. This is a crucial achievement and the first recorded since the SMEIPA was introduced in 2006,” he posted on Facebook today.
He attributed the success achieved to continuous efforts through the SEK-MPUPK Meetings held throughout last year.
All the meetings aimed to ensure a more integrated alignment and coordination of entrepreneurship programmes as well as more comprehensive reporting.
"As chairman of MPUPK, I'm committed to empowering the entrepreneurship ecosystem and MSME development in Malaysia through more strategic and comprehensive initiatives for the country's economic well-being,” he said.
Last August, Ahmad Zahid said that it was compulsory for all state governments, ministries and agencies involved in entrepreneurship initiatives and the development MSMEs to report the achievements of their related programmes.
This, he added, was to minimise programme duplication among agencies and reduce government resource wastage.
