LABUAN, March 5 (Bernama) -- Labuan’s Public Works Department (JKR) continues to go beyond its routine work by actively contributing to the community through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Labuan JKR director Mohd Faizul Ali Hanapiah said a CSR unit has been established within the department to undertake various community-driven initiatives.
He said these efforts include small-scale road repair, mosque and cemetery cleaning, and logistical support for the local population.
“Our CSR unit is an extension of our service to the people, ensuring that we contribute to society beyond our primary mandate.
“While our primary duty is to ensure the upkeep of public infrastructure, we recognise our role in giving back to society.
“We feel obliged to contribute within our capacity, as we have the expertise to accomplish such tasks,” he told Bernama today.
However, he noted that while the department strives to assist wherever possible, not all requests for CSR work could be accommodated.
Mohd Faizul said the availability of manpower and resources plays a crucial role in determining the feasibility of such projects.
