KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) has received new assets comprising 30 ambulances and 50 four-wheel-drive vehicles as part of ongoing efforts to enhance its logistics capacity and operational efficiency at the state level.
APM Chief Commissioner Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed said the addition of the assets would not only increase logistics preparedness but also serve as a motivational boost for each APM member to continue providing the best service to the people.
“I urge all APM officers and members to utilise these assets with utmost care, integrity and professionalism to ensure effective service delivery at all levels,” he said in a statement today.
Aminurrahim officiated the handover ceremony for the new ambulance fleet at the parade ground of the Civil Defence Force headquarters in Kajang yesterday.
The newly acquired vehicles have been distributed to APM offices across the Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern zones, as well as Sabah and Sarawak, as a strategic initiative to support the national preparedness agenda in facing various types of emergencies and disasters, whether on a small or large scale.
“These vehicles will boost operational efficiency, especially in rural, remote, and high-risk areas that require immediate and rapid access,” it added.
According to APM, the handover of the new assets would strengthen its capabilities, especially in rural and remote areas, as they would be equipped with basic medical equipment and lifesaving tools that enhance the effectiveness of its emergency response on the ground.
“This enables APM to continue performing its duties efficiently, particularly in handling emergency calls via 999 and disaster operations at both state and district levels to ensure that the safety and well-being of the people are always safeguarded,” it added.
Meanwhile, during an official meeting with Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab yesterday, APM also expressed its intention to establish a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Health on the integrated use of ambulances in the field.
The collaboration aims to optimise existing resources of both agencies and expand emergency assistance coverage, especially in areas with limited access to immediate healthcare services, thus benefiting the public through a more efficient and comprehensive emergency response system.
“Continued support from the government will not only improve our operational efficiency, it will also inspire greater commitment, dedication and integrity among all APM personnel in carrying out their responsibilities for the people’s well-being,” it added.
