JOHOR BAHRU, June 29 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry (MOH) will consider the Johor government’s intention to develop ministry land in Kempas to build state affordable housing.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said they have received a proposal regarding the matter and would give it due consideration.

"Yes we have received the proposal and will consider it,” he said at a media conference after the handover ceremony for Pasir Gudang Hospital here today.

In other developments, Dzulkefly said the government intends to develop a new healthcare ecosystem to tackle rising costs of private healthcare and medical inflation.

The issue was part of the items being considered in the recently-established Joint Ministerial Committee on Private Healthcare Cost, he added.

"All these (measures) will set up a new ecosystem, in addition to what we view as a focus on public facilities as this is to tackle inflation costs,” he said.

Dzulkefly also touched on the lack of nurses, stating that the ministry would raise the intake of trainee nurses and work with the private sector to fill vacancies.

"The most important thing is to boost morale and work spirit among nurses. Its a chronic issue and there is no quick solution. Give us some time to tackle it,” he added.
