Support For Kota Madani Development Justified To Meet Current Needs

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- The Kota MADANI development project, designed to be environmentally friendly and equipped with advanced safety features, deserves full support as it seeks to provide essential facilities that meet the evolving needs of residents.

This initiative is part of the government’s strategic effort to address the rising demand for sustainable and well-equipped housing, particularly for civil servants.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the project not only prioritises digital infrastructure and incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) technology, but also focuses on delivering basic amenities such as schools, mosques, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, and government health clinic.

“This is not a new Putrajaya or a mega mall project, but one focused on delivering basic facilities to meet the increasing needs of residents,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He noted that in previous developments, essential facilities like mosques and schools were often excluded from initial planning or only included in later phases, compelling residents to raise funds for construction.

“With these planned facilities, residents will no longer need to travel long distances to send their children to school or go to mosque, which is a common challenge today,” Zulkifli added.

He emphasised that the project would bring peace of mind to parents, especially concerning the safety of their children, and stressed the necessity for adequate housing and amenities to support education, spirituality, recreation and economic activities amid Malaysia’s growing population.

“Imagine if housing and development projects nationwide adopted this model and concept. It would benefit residents, communities and stakeholders involved in such initiatives,” he said.

Zulkifli also highlighted that the Kota MADANI concept aligns closely with the underlying MADANI philosophy.

“I acknowledge that there may be differing views on this matter, which is natural. However, respect and proper conduct must be upheld,” he said.

The Kota MADANI development was officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 26 in Precinct 19, Putrajaya. The RM4 billion project is a flagship smart city initiative designed to be people- and environment-friendly.

Developed by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH), the project follows a public-private partnership model under a build, lease, maintain and transfer (BLMT) framework, without requiring initial government funding.
