KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) – Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang (SSMP) made history today, emerging as the new champions of the 2025 MCKK Premier 7’s Rugby Championship after defeating reigning champion Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail (SSTMI) in the Cup category final at The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) field.
SSMP's 17-12 victory secured their maiden title in the prestigious 13th edition of the tournament, ending SSTMI's long dominance in the competition.
The key to SSMP's success was their disciplined play and player agility, with an outstanding performance by Muhammad Ammar Zidan Mohd Zaid, who also received the Zaharuddin Alias Best Player award.
Meanwhile, the host team, MCKK, concluded their campaign by defeating Japanese representatives Shizuoka Seiko Academy (SSA) 14-7 in the Plate category final, alleviating their disappointment of failing to reach the main final.
For the third and fourth place decider in the Cup category, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Hussein Onn (THOR) secured a narrow 10-7 victory over Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan King Edward VII (KE VII).
Kolej Vokasional Arau (KVA) won the Bowl category after triumphing over Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Hosba (HOSBA) with a score of 24-21.
Additionally, Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Balik Pulau also garnered attention by winning the Shield category with a convincing 19-0 victory over Royal Military College (RMC).
