KLANG, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The Platform Selangor (PLATS) programme, a digital entrepreneurship ecosystem developed by the Selangor government, has recorded a cumulative sales value of more than RM10 million to date.
Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) Foundation head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the amount was achieved through various initiatives under the programme.
"Based on our data, the Agrobank PLATS Ramadan Bazaar programme recorded sales of about RM8 million.
"... and based on data from the Point of Sales device system given to our entrepreneurs, from that we have already achieved almost RM3 million," he told a press conference here today.
Commenting further, Ahmad Azri said to date, a total of 88,000 entrepreneurs have joined the programme, moving closer to the target of 100,000 entrepreneurs set by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the programme focuses on micro entrepreneurs, namely hawkers and small retailers, mostly involved in the food and beverage industry and service sectors.
Ahmad Azri said the foundation is also working with the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to further empower entrepreneurs under the programme to bring their products to the overseas market.
"We will also be heading to Shanghai this November to explore how we can market our products there, in addition to exploring opportunities in the Middle East," he added.
