ARAU, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has channelled MADANI Student Sustainable Aid worth RM17,500 to 35 students from lower-income families studying at three institutions of higher learning in Perlis today.

The corporation said the assistance was an effort to support tertiary education access for students from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis branch and Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic (PTSS) here in conjunction with the PTPTN Kayuhan Sejuta Kasih 2025.

"Every student who qualifies will receive one-off assistance of RM500 that will be banked into their account,” PTPTN said in a statement today.

One recipient, Muhammad Azehan Fazilah, 24, a fourth-year electrical system maintenance degree student at UniMAP, said he would use the aid for daily expenses on campus and that it would spur him to continue to excel in his studies.

“I’m very happy to be selected for this aid, it will help reduce my living costs,” he said.

UiTM Perlis branch third-year sports science degree student, Nurul Fatin Fatihah Zainol Mahamud, 23,  concurred as she related how the assistance would indirectly motivate her to continue to focus on her studies.

"I’m grateful and touched to be selected for this aid. I plan to use the money to complete my final year project,” she added.

Finally, PTSS second-year digital creative arts technology diploma student, Aidil Ummar, 19, said that the assistance would help meet his needs and that it will be put to the best possible use for his learning.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, together with his son, Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Al-Haj Jamalullail, graced the cycling event at Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Sports Complex, UiTM Perlis branch, with PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim and PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid in attendance.

The Raja Muda also presented food aid to three asnaf families and Simpan SSPN Prime accounts to three asnaf children at the event, which involved over 100 participants

PTPTN also presented cash aid and Simpan SSPN Prime accounts to 60 students from Maahad Tahfiz Al-Hikmah at the event.

The cycling event, which is in its second edition, is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) for PTPTN to the community, including those in need.

"The programme received assistance from government agencies such as the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), the Perlis State Secretary’s Office, the Perlis contingent police headquarters, the Perlis Information Department and the non-governmental organisation, Perlis Volunteer Action Community (PVAC)," PTPTN said.

Also, winners of the PTPTN Woodball Cup 2025 friendly match between UiTM Perlis branch students and staff were celebrated as a form of appreciation of their participation.

PTPTN is committed to building strategic ties with various parties to implement CSR programmes and to spread the benefits of Simpan SSPN accounts that help the community.
