RM100,000 Allocation For Each Village To Lift Felda Livelihoods - Settlers Chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- National Felda Settlers chief Sulong Jamil Mohamed Shariff has lauded the RM100,000 allocation to each village under the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) as part of the government's effort to improve the living standards of settlers.

He said each village could utilise the allocation for long-term development that could generate income for Felda settlers.

“Such allocations have previously been given to traditional villages, but following discussions between the Felda chairman (Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek) and the Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi), Felda settlements have now been included in this initiative.

“The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) himself has agreed to extend it to all 317 Felda schemes under the Sejahtera MADANI concept,” he told reporters at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

According to Sulong Jamil, some villages, particularly traditional ones within the 317 Felda schemes, have already received the funds, which have been used to develop homestay projects and purchase agricultural equipment such as tractors or drones, depending on local needs.

However, he advised each village to use the allocation transparently to ensure there were no leakages and that projects were free from corruption.

Earlier, at the launch of the MK3D 2025 Carnival, the Prime Minister announced an allocation of RM100,000 for each Felda village to implement development projects determined by the local residents themselves.

Anwar said this approach, which gave villagers the freedom to choose their preferred projects, was in line with the MADANI Government’s aspirations that emphasised the principles of consultation and empowerment of the people.

On the delisting of FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) from Bursa Malaysia, Sulong Jamil expressed gratitude to the government for listening to the voices of Felda settlers who had previously raised the matter.

He said the move could help return Felda to the original purpose of its establishment.
