KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The MyMall digital sales platform has recorded a total sales value of RM24.3 million, involving 3,407 registered vendors as of July 31, said Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
Ramanan said this figure represents a significant increase, with sales growing by RM15 million in the first seven months of this year.
“Micro, small, and medium enterprises (PMKS) are encouraged to register with MyMall and utilise its free marketing space through this e-commerce platform.
“This initiative by the ministry (KUSKOP) will help entrepreneurs cope with the challenges of rising living costs while growing their businesses online, free of charge,” he said.
He was replying to a question from Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor) about the ministry’s efforts to protect entrepreneurs from cost pressures, especially as major e-commerce platforms like Shopee, TikTok, and Lazada have recently raised commission fees for sellers.
Ramanan also mentioned various initiatives by KUSKOP, including the EmpowerPKK (Entrepreneurship Empowerment for Small Traders) programme, the TikTok Shop Live Hub developed with TikTok Malaysia and Tekun Nasional, as well as the free business consultation service BizClinic offered by the National Entrepreneurial Institute (INSKEN) to empower entrepreneurs.
He added that KUSKOP is collaborating with other agencies such as the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to safeguard the interests of PMKS entrepreneurs.
“KPDN is currently conducting a review of e-commerce regulations to ensure better and more comprehensive online business oversight.
“The Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) is also reviewing the digital economy ecosystem under the Competition Act, with the aim of ensuring that no party is able to raise costs without regulation,” he added.
Ramanan was responding to Lee’s supplementary question about legal initiatives to protect PMKS entrepreneurs, especially given the growing presence of foreign sellers, suppliers, and direct shippers in the market.
