The Perfect Heartio Makes History As Malaysia’s First Clinically-proven Herbal Heart Supplement

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The Perfect Heartio (TPH), a homegrown brand rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has made history as Malaysia’s first herbal heart supplement to be clinically validated.

The announcement was made during a press conference at Element Kuala Lumpur here today, where the results of TPH’s first clinical study were officially unveiled.

According to Assoc Prof Dr Tan Chung Keat from USCI University, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes contributed to 71 per cent of global deaths as of 2018.

He said cardiovascular conditions remain the leading cause of death and are projected to contribute to 23.6 million deaths annually by 2030.

“While we may not be able to completely reverse the trend, we must find ways to slow it down or prevent it. So diet and nutrition play a very critical role in that,” he said.

Dr Tan, who led the 12-week open-label study, said the trial involved 50 participants aged between 30 and 60, and showed that TPH’s herbal formulation significantly improved cardiovascular health, supported by measurable biomarkers and participant feedback.

The trial measured cholesterol levels, inflammation markers and overall well-being of participants who consumed TPH twice daily without making major changes to their lifestyle or diet.

“The results were very promising. We saw inflammation levels drop by around 8.6 per cent, and a key marker linked to blood vessel damage went down by more than 25 per cent.

“Even creatine kinase, which shows stress on the heart and muscles, decreased by over 9 per cent. These changes suggest that TPH helps the body reduce strain and improve overall heart health,” he said.

Besides the lab results, Dr Tan noted that participants also reported improved well-being, with quality of life scores increasing by nearly 14 per cent and overall well-being rising by more than 16 per cent, indicating TPH may support both heart health and emotional wellness.

Meanwhile, during a mini forum discussion held after the launch of TPH’s official clinical study results, its founder, Jon Lai, said the clinical trial represents more than just a scientific achievement, describing it as a turning point for the traditional herbal supplement industry in Malaysia.

Lai shared that gaining trust from pharmacies and the public had always been a challenge, despite a strong belief in the product’s ability to support those with high blood pressure, cholesterol and cardiovascular concerns.

“It was always difficult to prove that herbal products could work just as well as Western medicine. But now, with clinical data, we’re bridging Eastern wisdom with Western science,” he said.

He also believes that the trial paves the way for TCM to gain wider acceptance among Malaysians, including the Malay and Indian communities, who may now have greater confidence in exploring TCM-based products.

TPH blends eight traditional herbs, including Alternanthera sessilis, Astragalus membranaceus, ginger, red date, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Panax notoginseng, Codonopsis pilosula and Ligusticum chuanxiong into a liquid supplement designed for rapid absorption.

The product, formulated as a safe, effective and gentle option especially for senior citizens, is now available at over 150 outlets nationwide, including major chains like Caring Pharmacy, Alpro Pharmacy and Sunway Multicare Pharmacy.

The press conference also saw the official appointment of veteran singer Xue Zhong as TPH’s brand ambassador, adding to the brand’s appeal with his strong advocacy for wellness and healthy living.
