KOTA TINGGI, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Micro-entrepreneurs in Felda Sungai Mas producing gula tarik, a sweet treat similar to hand-pulled candy floss, are now able to significantly broaden their online market reach after joining the NADI-Preneur programme, guided by the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI).

Nur Syahirah Khaidir, 34, said the entrepreneurship programme organised by Felda Sungai Mas NADI provided traders with valuable exposure and digital skills, including how to effectively use e-commerce platforms to market their products.

“The NADI entrepreneurship class helped me learn how to create a business account and take good videos and photos for my products.

“NADI also taught me how to make our shop on the e-commerce platform look more attractive,” she told Bernama recently.

Nur Syahirah, who has been selling preservative-free homemade products since 2017, said she is now actively promoting them on e-commerce platforms and social media, expanding her market to Sabah and Sarawak beyond the village community she initially targeted.

“NADI offers full support to entrepreneurs taking part in NADI-Preneur. For my product, Felda Sungai Mas NADI has been actively promoting it on their social media channels,” she said.

According to her, NADI also took the initiative to organise a food handling course to assist traders, especially those in rural areas.

Meanwhile, Felda Sungai Mas NADI manager Norasikin Md Saidak said that NADI-Preneur was among the entrepreneurial programmes organised to produce competitive entrepreneurs capable of shifting their businesses from traditional physical sales to online platforms.

“In the past, many people didn’t know how to use email or make online transactions. Today, they can do business through TikTok Shop, use Shopee services, and manage their banking digitally.

“In fact, some participants who were once just passive social media users are now creating online content and earning income through live streaming, digital marketing, and managing their own e-commerce sites,” she said.

According to Norasikin, Felda Sungai Mas NADI, which has a membership of 3,463 people, remains active in organising various activities covering entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, personal wellbeing, and government initiatives.

“We are committed to implementing innovative programmes, including courses such as MAHIR Baiki Gajet, MAHIR Jahit, MAHIR Masak, MAHIR Foto, and MAHIR Pertanian Pintar, to ensure the local community is not left behind in the digital era.

“This programme is conducted online to help participants gain technical skills that can be turned into income opportunities,” she said.

Norasikin added that the centre also conducts bootcamp programmes to train micro- and youth entrepreneurs in e-commerce, digital marketing, content management, and online branding strategies, alongside the Tiny Technies programme, which focuses on improving students’ technical abilities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
