KOTA BHARU, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited a padi planting project under the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) at Desa Gemalai Baruh Padi Alami, Mulong here.
He arrived at 11.15 am, accompanied by Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and KADA chairman Khalid Abdul Samad, before being briefed on the project.
The Prime Minister then signed a project implementation plaque before walking to the padi fields to observe the planting methods, including the use of a solar-powered irrigation and drainage system, as well as the application of modern technology in cultivating 8.49 hectares of organic padi, now in its fifth planting season.
Despite the hot weather, the Prime Minister spent about 30 minutes touring the site before leaving at 11.45 am for his next programme in Kelantan today.
Desa Gemalai, managed by Mohd Yusri Mohamad Nor since 2023, practises eco-friendly farming without the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
The project has achieved an average yield of about five metric tonnes per hectare with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security through KADA.
