KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the MADANI Government remains firmly committed to safeguarding the voice, rights, and opportunities of indigenous peoples.
He said that this commitment ensures that indigenous peoples remain pillars of culture, guardians of natural treasures, and partners in the nation's progress.
“Today’s International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples reminds us that the true strength of a country, especially Malaysia, lies in the diversity and heritage we preserve together,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
The 2025 Indigenous Peoples Day carries the theme, ‘Pertahankan Bumi, Pulihkan Tanah, Hijauan Semula Masa Depan – Melalui Kearifan Orang Asal’ (Protect the Earth, Restore the Land, Regreen the Future – Through Indigenous Wisdom).
This day is celebrated annually to honour the identity, culture, contributions, and rights of indigenous peoples, who are an integral part of Malaysia’s rich racial and cultural diversity.
