KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his condolences to the families of five Al Jazeera media personnel killed in an Israeli military strike in Gaza City.

In a Facebook post today, Ahmad Zahid said the attack claimed the lives of Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal.

He said they died while carrying out the noble duty of conveying the truth and reporting the real situation on the ground to open the world’s eyes to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

“Their courage and sacrifice are proof that the struggle for justice will never fade, even when life is at stake.

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to all the victims’ families and strongly condemn this heinous act, which clearly violates international humanitarian law,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid reaffirmed that Malaysia would continue to speak out on the world stage, fight for justice for the Palestinian people, and demand an immediate end to attacks on journalists and humanitarian workers.

“May their souls be blessed with mercy and placed among the martyrs,” he added.

The Gaza Media Office reported today that two of its journalists were among the five media personnel killed on Sunday after their tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City was attacked by Israel.
