SEREMBAN, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- A new Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban 2 (HTJ2) will be developed at a cost of RM600 million on a 13.35-hectare site near the Seremban Health Clinic in Jalan Rasah, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said today.
The facility, set to offer at least 400 beds, will expand specialist services, including neurology and cardiology, to better serve the state’s growing population.
“With rapid population growth, this new hospital is a pressing priority. If we don’t act now, we risk facing serious healthcare infrastructure shortages within the next decade,” he said after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Negeri.
Aminuddin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Port Dickson, noted that the current HTJ is short 188 beds due to ongoing upgrades, placing significant strain on the existing healthcare system and affecting patients in need of timely care.
Although HTJ2 has been listed under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), he said the project has not yet been finalised and urged the federal government to fast-track its approval.
“The land is already available and federally owned, so no acquisition is needed. Construction can begin immediately once the allocation is confirmed, ideally under the 2026 Budget,” he added.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced RM40 billion in allocations for the health sector under 13MP, including funding for HTJ2.
