GUA MUSANG, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- A heartwarming display of patriotism saw a man distribute 15,000 free Jalur Gemilang flags to residents across five locations here ahead of the 68th National Day.
Beyond handing out flags, Mohd Rohimi Ibrahim’s gesture sought to reignite patriotic spirit within the community.
The 55-year-old spent about RM50,000 on Jalur Gemilang, meals, and cultural activities, describing the effort as a small but meaningful way to encourage participation in the Satu Rumah Satu Jalur Gemilang initiative.
“I want every home and business premises to feel the spirit and joy of Independence Month,” he told reporters here today.
Since 2018, Mohd Rohimi has run this initiative annually, with Gua Musang selected as the location for this year.
“We began in Pasir Mas and Machang, but I want to make a difference this year by distributing the Jalur Gemilang to business premises as well, so that all segments of society can feel the spirit of independence,” he said.
Mohd Rohimi said the distribution of the Jalur Gemilang was not merely symbolic but a way of expressing love for the country.
“I hope this small effort will enliven the National Day celebrations and serve as a reminder that the independence we enjoy today was achieved through the struggles of past generations,” he said.
