PUTRAJAYA, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- All mosques and surau under the purview of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) have been instructed to perform solat hajat (prayer of need) and recite Qunut Nazilah after Friday prayers today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the directive serves as a manifestation of prayers and solidarity from Malaysian Muslims for their brothers and sisters in Gaza, who are enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises.
He added that the famine crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, hospitals are crippled, and the number of victims - the majority of them children and women - is rising by the day.
“We cannot remain silent while innocent lives are being taken. Prayer is indeed the weapon of the believer, but it must go hand in hand with awareness and collective action.
“Let us unite in prayer, asking Allah SWT to grant safety, strength, and victory to the Palestinian people, and to bring an end to the tyranny of the Zionist regime,” he said in a statement.
