KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Police have confirmed that several of its officers recently went to a rapper’s house to serve him with a witness summons to assist in an investigation.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the action was taken under Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code following a report lodged against the rapper by a 33-year-old man on July 31, who claimed to have received offensive remarks from him on Instagram.

“The complainant claimed that he received posts containing attacks in the form of comments, hate messages, accusations, and condemnations that defamed his character and reputation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said in a statement today.

The video, which the rapper posted on his Instagram account, showed several police officers at his residence and his attempt to contact the police for clarification on the purpose of their visit.
